The debates kick off with Westchester County Legislator Dist. 7 candidates Catherine Parker and John Verni debating at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Mamaroneck Town Center at 740 Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck. Dist. 7 includes Mamaroneck, Larchmont, Rye and portions of Harrison and New Rochelle. The debate is sponsored by the LWV of Rye, Rye Brook and Port Chester and the LWV of Larchmont/Mamaroneck.
The second debate starts at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 and features Dist. 5, 6 and 7 candidates at the Veterans Memorial Building at 210 Halstead Ave. in Harrison. Dist. 5 candidates Benjamin Boykin and Miriam Levitt and Dist. 6 candidates David Gelfarb and Mark Jaffe will join Parker and Verni. Dist. 5 includes most of White Plains, all of Scarsdale and a portion of Harrison and Dist. 6 includes Rye Brook, Port Chester and a portion of Harrison.
The final candidate forum will be Rye City Mayor and City Council members at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at Rye Middle School. The event is sponsored by the LWV of Rye, Rye Brook & Port Chester and features mayoral candidates Joseph Sack, Nancy Silberkleit and Peter Jovanovich. City Council candidates include Kirstin Bucci, Margaret Cameron, Julia Killian, Terrence McCartney, Jason Mehler and Shari Punyon.
The forums are open to the public and will be broadcast on local public access television stations, according to a press release from the LWV. The debates will also be available for viewing on an on-demand basis on the League's website.
