On May 1, 2010, Jackson, the Democratic candidate for Westchester County Legislator District 1, alerted police to an illegally parked car and foiled a plot to bomb Times Square, being hailed as a hero. President Barack Obama even called to thank him for his heroism.

Jackson later entered politics, exploring a run for Congress and being elected to the Buchanan Village Board.

Jackson is running against incumbent Republican John Testa.

Jackson moved to the District 20 years ago, because he loved the tranquility of the region and the proximity to the Hudson River.

"I want to represent Westchester because it is my home," Jackson said. "It has an extraordinary sense of community and gives opportunities to small business owners like myself."

District 1 means a great deal to Jackson, who has also served in the Buchanan Fire Department and is a member of Mt. Olivet Church.

"I love is the camaraderie between the people living here," Jackson said. "And the pride that residents take in their community. Northern Westchester is a place where you can raise your family.

Jackson said he loves shopping at the Jefferson Valley Mall or the Cortlandt Town Center or exploring the area's numerous small businesses. He said his top three restaurants are Augie's Prime Cut in Mohegan Lake and Kathleen's Tea Room and The Bean Runner Cafe in Peekskill.

"It's hard to choose my favorite restaurant because there are so many good ones," Jackson said. Jackson said he is running for office because he feels Northern Westchester has been ignored for too long.

"It is time for someone to stand up for the people and the needs  that need to be met," Jackson said. "I will also stand up for the middle class by making Northern Westchester more affordable. I will invest in our infrastructure, and I will work with our County Executive and my fellow legislators in order to implement reasonable budgeting."

District 1 encompasses Peekskill, Yorktown and Cortlandt.
