Davis, Levitt Apparent Winners Of Croton Democratic Primary

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Kevin Davis and Andy Levitt won the Democratic nomination for the upcoming Croton Board of Trustees general election, according to unofficial election results Thursday evening.

According to the unofficial results, Davis received 529 votes, or 34 percent of the electorate, Levitt received 509 votes or 34 percent, and incumbent Ann Gallelli received 478 or 32 percent, as of 11 p.m.

"My thoughts are that I'm very grateful to the voters of Croton-on-Hudson for listening to what I had to say, and respecting what I've done for Croton-on-Hudson. I'm honored to win the nomination of the Democratic party," said Davis.

There was some trepidation among apparent winning candidates to refer to who they would be working with. Both campaigns, the Gallelli-Levitt campaign, which was endorsed by the Croton Democratic Committee, and the Davis campaign, which independently sought the Democratic nomination, received numbers from poll runners that were inconsistent with Westchester County Board of Elections results on Thursday night.

"Assuming the results are now as we think they are, I'm very honored to have received the Democratic nomination and what we assume will be a seat on the Board of Trustees. I congratulate Kevin as well, I look forward to working with him, although I think that Croton will dearly miss the services of Ann Gallelli on the Board. I think she's done a remarkable job and the village is better off because of that," said Levitt.

"I'd like to congratulate Kevin on obviously running a very successful campaign," said Gallelli. Without the nomination of her party she will not seek re-election.

The Croton Republican Committee announced in July that it did not intend to endorse candidates for the Board of Trustees. If no other candidates come forward, Levitt and Davis may not face opposition in Croton's first fall election.
