Schmidt is running for mayor, while Anderson and Walsh will be vying for the two open trustee positions.

“We firmly believe this slate of candidates, which offers both experience and new vision to our village, will provide public-minded, forward-thinking leadership to the community,” noted CU chair Roseann Schuyler.

Schmidt, a Democrat, is a familiar name to many Crotonites. A local chiropractor, he and his wife, Susan, have resided in the village for 30 years. He has served three terms as a village trustee and two terms as mayor.

Schmidt currently heads the Croton Business Council branch of the Hudson Valley Chamber of Commerce and serves as president of Croton Rotary.

Anderson, along with his wife, Leslie, has lived in Croton for over 40 years. A 1972 graduate from SUNY-New Paltz with BS and MS degrees in education and psychology, he taught second and third grade in the Hendrick Hudson School District, as well as special needs children at Northern Westchester BOCES.

He served as an executive assistant to the vice president of science and technology at IBM and finished his career as a technical recruiter, retiring in 2002.

“I am running for village trustee so I can perform public service without being constrained by party loyalty,” says Anderson, who has no party affiliations. “I’m gravely concerned about our village debt that was unanimously increased by 33 percent by the current board.”

Walsh, along with his wife, Courtney, and his family are 16-year residents of Croton. Walsh graduated from Iona College with a BBA in marketing and holds an MBA in operations management from Baruch College. Walsh is currently employed by Verizon. He is a Eucharistic minister at Holy Name of Mary Parish, has coached CYO basketball for the last seven years and Croton Little League softball for the last two.

“I want to give the people what they want, not what they are told to take on, help the village be more fiscally responsible and a great place to live,” says Walsh, a registered Democrat.

Croton United was formed in 2014 as a nonpartisan organization in Croton.
