The Democratic Commitee voted unanimously on all three candidates during the group's monthly meeting on June 6, according to a news release. While Wiegman and Raskob are seeking re-election, Levitt is seeking the trustee seat that will be left vacant after Ian Murtaugh finishes his term this year.
“The Croton Democratic Committee is very pleased to endorse such a strong slate of candidates including two incumbents, Leo and Casey, with outstanding records of accomplishment on behalf of the village and Andy, a highly qualified candidate with a deep and abiding commitment to service in our community,” said Paul Rolnick, Democratic Chair, in the release.
Wiegman said he was honored to receive the endorsement and serve the people in Croton.
"The creativity and drive of so many people in Croton is an inspiration to those of us in public life and pushes us to do our best and remain open to new ideas and new ways of doing things," Wiegman said in the release. "For example, the 9-11 Memorial, the Duck Pond restoration and our Community Gardens were all ideas from residents. It is our job as elected officials to invite such ideas and help the best ideas become reality."
Raskob said he was pleased to have the opportunity.
"Croton is truly a special place, and I intend, with the rest of the Board, to work to keep it that way," he said in the release. "Our community is full of great ideas and inventive people. Working together we can preserve what we have and improve for the future."
Andy Levitt said he was "honored and humbled to receive the Croton Democrats’ endorsement and to run alongside Mayor Wiegman and Trustee Raskob."
"If I’m elected Village Trustee, I will do my utmost to continue the Village Board’s outstanding work on behalf of our community while applying my independent judgment to the important issues facing Croton," Levitt said in the release.
