Yorktown Woman Charged With Stealing From Kmart

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 55-year-old resident of Yorktown on a larceny charge following an incident at Kmart, police said.

The arrest came about after police received a call reporting a shoplifter in custody at the Kmart store at 355 Downing Drive on Thursday about 12:10 p.m., according to officials.

Officers responded to the scene and conducted an investigation; the suspect, identified as Mirna A. Santiago, had allegedly exited the store without attempting to pay for assorted earrings and women’s blouses valued at a total of $73.94, according to officials.

Santiago was arrested and charged with petty larceny, a class A misdemeanor, police report.

Following processing at police headquarters, the defendant was issued an appearance ticket directing her to answer the charge against her in Yorktown Town Court on Tuesday, Aug. 16, according to officials.

She was then released on $100 bail, police report.
