The 18-year-old, whose name was withheld due to eligibility for youthful offender status, was found in the park at 3499 Curry Street about 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8, according to police.

The teen is alleged to have driven into the park, left the road, and – on bald tires – driven on to the sidewalk, police said.

When officers returned to the park the following day to assess the scene in the sunlight, they estimated the damages to be about $250.

The teen was then charged with 4th degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, and several violations, police said.

The teen, who turned himself over to police on Tuesday, Feb. 9, is to appear in Yorktown Town Court at 4 p.m. March 24.
