Ryan S. McNamee, a 38-year-old Wappinger Falls resident, and Michael Horowitz, a 23-year-old Beacon resident, are facing the charges.
Police said troopers were dispatched to the Home Depot for a reported larceny on Sunday at 5 p.m. A loss prevention officer reported to police that he had observed Horowitz select numerous power tools from the shelves and exit the store, failing to pay for the merchandise. The employee followed Horowitz and located McNamee, who was also found to possess stolen power tools.
Home Depot staff contacted state police and Horowitz was taken into custody by responding troopers. McNamee was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit. Both defendants were charged with Grand Larceny in the third degree and arraigned by Town Justice Daniel McCarthy. McNamee was remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail due to having several outstanding warrants for his arrest. Horowitz was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
McNamee and Horowitz are scheduled to re-appear in Cortlandt Court on Monday.
