The victims – the driver and passenger of the van – were traveling northbound on Route 9D at about 1:20 p.m. when their vehicle crossed over the southbound lane, ran off the road, struck a tree and overturned, police report.

The crash occurred about one mile south of Route 403, near the property of the Capuchin Youth & Family Ministries, according to officials.

Sheriff’s deputies, the Garrison Ambulance Corps and the Philipstown Ambulance Corps were dispatched to the scene; first responders then called for helicopters from LifeNetAir2 and New Jersey-Hackensack Helicopter Service to transport the victims to the hospital, police report.

The helicopters flew the victims to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, according to officials.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police report.

Route 9D was closed in both directions for about three hours as authorities aided the victims, investigated the crash and cleared the overturned van.

No tickets were issued, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
