Teen Charged With Punching Female Student On Lakeland School Bus

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - A Lakeland High School student is in trouble with the law after he allegedly struck a female classmate in the face on a school bus earlier this week, Yorktown Police said.

A 16-year-old Yorktown resident - whose name is being withheld because he may qualify as a youthful offender - has been charged with a misdemeanor third-degree assault charge after causing physical injury to his classmate on Monday.

Yorktown Police said they received a report of an assault that took place on a school bus returning to Lakeland High School on Monday, Dec. 5 in the vicinity of the Lakeland Deli in Shrub Oak. According to the police report, the investigation revealed that the male student struck the girl several times in the head, causing physical injury.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested at Lakeland High School the following day and arraigned in Yorktown Town Court by Judge Salvatore Lagonia. He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court Friday, Jan. 13 next year.
