State police confirmed that a student under the age of 13 made threats at the school, prompting an intervention by law enforcement officials. The nature of the threats was not immediately clear.
According to Ellen Lane, the communications director for Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES, the 12-year-old student arrived at school in an agitated state and became increasingly upset before making verbal threats to staff and pulling the hair of one student aide.
Lane said the staff member whose hair was pulled was examined by the school nurse, who detected that her blood pressure was elevated. As a result, the nurse recommended that the nurse go to the Emergency Room as a precaution. There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.
