State Police Investigate Fatal Route 9 Crash In Cortlandt

CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- New York State Police say they are investigating what caused a head-on crash on Route 9 in Cortlandt that killed a Kingston man and injured a Poughkeepsie woman on Friday.

Police say they got the call about 6 p.m. Friday. A 1995 Honda driven by Manual Collaguazo, 46, of Kingston, was traveling north on Route 9 when it crossed into the southbound lane and struck a 2010 Mercedes-Benz driven by Patricia Jackson, 55, of Poughkeepsie, police said.

Collaguazo was pronounced dead at the scene, and Jackson was taken to Westchester Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

State police got assistance from the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office, Continental Village Fire Department and Peekskill Emergency Medical Service, police said.
