At least two pieces of jewelry were taken from a home on Greenlawn between 3:30 p.m. March 26 and 11 a.m. March 27, said the New York State Police in Somers. The investigation is ongoing, and police do not have any suspects. In what is believed to be an unrelated incident, a rock was thrown through a window in a home on Woodcrest in Amawalk in the evening of March 28, police said. The incident was believed to have been an attempted break-in.

“The homeowner was home in the opposite section of the house,” said Investigator Brian Dedusevic of the State Police in Somers. “The homeowner went into the room, saw the brick on the floor, heard a car door shut, went up the driveway and saw an older model silver Buick sedan leaving at a high rate of speed.”

State police will continue investigating both incidents, Dedusevic said.

“These cases will be left open until all of our leads have been exhausted. If we end up closing them, we would reopen them if we receive any additional leads,” he said. “These were isolated incidents, but we’ve really gotten no leads on either of these cases.”

Neither incident was believed to have been a home invasion, Dedusevic said.

“We’ve had no reports of any home invasions in the area,” he said. “If residents want to report something to us or have concerns or information about any crime that they’ve witnessed, they can contact us and we will pursue the matter. If something doesn’t look right, they are encouraged to give us a call and we will check them out to the best of our ability.”

Town of Somers police said Wednesday they have received no reports of any break-ins, home invasions or robberies in the last two weeks but would encourage residents to report any suspicious incidents.

To report incidents with the Somers Police Department, call the non-emergency line at 914-232-9622. Those with information for the New York State Police are asked to contact Dedusevic at 914-769-2600.
