Route 6 Stop Leads To DWI, Drug Charges

MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- New York State Police from the Somers barracks arrested 52-year-old Michael J. Gaunt, of Mahopac, on Sunday for driving while intoxicated, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Troopers were dispatched to assist Somers Police Department with a traffic stop on Route 6. Following an investigation by the arresting officer, it was determined that Gaunt was intoxicated at the time of the stop. He was also charged with unlawfully possessing marijuana and oxycodone.

Gaunt was issued appearance tickets directing him to appear before the Town of Somers Court on Monday, Nov. 30.
