While on patrol on Route 52 in Carmel, Deputy Sheriff Christopher Irwin spotted a black pickup truck being driven by Dover, Vt. resident Kevin Dancy, who was not wearing his seatbelt.

During the subsequent traffic stop, Irwin reported that Dancy was in possession of a quantity of marijuana and Clonazepam, a controlled substance used to treat seizures, panic disorders and anxiety.

Dancy was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was also cited for not wearing his seatbelt.

Following arraignment, Dancy was released and is due back in the Town of Carmel Court later this year to answer the charges.
