Putnam Valley Woman Faces DWI Charges

PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. – A Putnam Valley woman faces charges of driving while intoxicated after she was stopped early Sunday, Feb. 7, on Oscawana Lake Road, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department said.

Aga Rukaj, 45, was pulled over because she was driving erratically and had committed traffic violations, Sheriff Donald B. Smith said.

Rukaj failed field sobriety tests and now faces a misdemeanor DWI charge, police said.

She was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and later released on her own recognizance, police said.

She is to appear in the Putnam Valley Justice Court on Tuesday, March 1, police said.

If found guilty, Rukja could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000, police said.
