Putnam Valley Firefighters Battle Brush Fire

PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. --  A brush fire in Lake Peekskill kept firefighters busy Monday afternoon.

The brush fire, which occurred on Reichert Street on a 200 x 400 area in "rocky terrain," according to Putnam Valley Fire Chief Shawn Keeler. Firefighters were able to put out the fire in 90 minutes and are still on the scene cleaning up.

"It had a good jump on us," Keeler said. "It spread quickly, but we were able to contain it."

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Mutual aid was provided by Mahopac Falls, Continental Village and Mohegan Lake.
