Poughkeepsie Teens Apprehended With Guns

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Five City of Poughkeepsie teens were nabbed with two loaded handguns and marijuana on Thursday, after being stopped by police on Mill Street.

The teens, traveling in a blue Ford Mustang, were stopped for traffic and vehicle violations, said Detective Lt. Matt Clark. 

During the stop, officers found a small amount of marijuana and two loaded handguns, police said.

The teens, Michael Azua, 19; Zaire Birks, 16; Rayshawn Casnova, 20; Isaiah Douglas, 17, and Shaquan Perrin, 18, all of the City of Poughkeepsie were charged with two counts each of criminal possession of a weapon, Clark said..

All were arraigned in City Court and are being held at the Dutchess County Jail on the following bails: Azua $100,000 bail/$200,000 bond; Birks $25,000 bail/$50,000 bond; Douglas $50,000 bail/$100,000 bond; Perrin $50,000 bail/$100,000 bond and Casanova $100,000 bail/200,000 bond.

The two guns bring the total number of guns seized in the City of Poughkeepsie to 23 this year.
