Police Renew Call For Public's Help In Search For Cortlandt Man

State police are intensifying their search and asking for the public’s aid as they continue looking for a 59-year-old Cortlandt resident suffering from mental illness that has been missing for nearly a month.

Police are asking the public’s help in locating Joseph Sharpe, who was last reported leaving Mohegan Park on Lexington Avenue in Cortlandt on Thursday, Jan. 26.

Sharpe has been described as being 5-foot-8, 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a white T-shirt, a black nylon jacket and a black baseball cap with “New York City” written on the front, police said.

According to police, Sharpe suffers from mental illness and may be in need of medication. He has previous connections in Yonkers, and investigators believe he may be staying in a homeless shelter.
