A 25-year-old Putnam man was charged with trying to entice a 16-year-old Stratford boy whom he met online to have sex with him, police said Thursday.

On Wednesday, Dylan Quinn of Garrison turned himself in to officers at the Stratford Police Department as the result of a warrant issued for his arrest.

The investigation started in May when detectives were notified of possible child pornography activity in Stratford, police said.

Detectives from the Stratford Police Youth Bureau determined that Quinn had contacted a teen in Stratford through a social networking site and asked for illicit photos of the boy, police said.

Quinn sent the teen photos of his genitals, police told the Connecticut Post. Quinn also persuaded the teen to send him a partially dressed photo of himself, according to the Post.

After communicating through Internet messages, Quinn arranged to meet the teen at the teen's house to perform a sex act, according to the Connecticut Post. But the boy's father saw the messages and called police, the Post said.

When police questioned Quinn, he told them that he had contacted a number of teenagers, some a young as 14, over the Internet, according to the Connecticut Post. He denied having sex with any of the minors, according to the Connecticut Post.

Quinn was charged with using a computer to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity, and released on $50,000 bond. He will appear in court on Oct. 13.

The investigation and warrant were completed Sept. 27.
