CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. — Charges have been upgraded against a Cortlandt Manor man who was arrested in a sex crime earlier this month, police said.
Richard J. Dinizo was arrested March 15 by investigators with the state police and special agents assigned to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
Dinizo was initially charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual act, a felony. Since then, new information obtained by police have led to new charges.
Two additional victims have come forward against Dinizo, police said. He has been additionally charged with two felony counts of second-degree predatory sexual assault against a child, according to New York State Police Investigator Brian Hoff. Investigators were still analyzing computer equipment and more victims were anticipated to come forward, Hoff said.
According to police, Dinizo has been active as a volunteer coach for a private girls basketball team in the Westchester area dating to at least the mid-1990s. Anyone with information to the investigation is encouraged to contact the bureau of criminal investigation at the Cortlandt barracks at 914-737-7171.
Dinizo is next scheduled to appear in Cortlandt Town Court on April 12.
