Police: Cortlandt Man Stole Beer, Pulled Knife

CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- State Police arrested a town resident Saturday afternoon for attempting to rob some beer from the Mohegan Lake Walmart with a knife, police said.  Christopher Acebal, 46, of Cortlandt Manor was arrested and charged with first-degree Robbery, a class B violent felony, police said.

Acebal was caught stealing a Budweiser 18-pack by a Walmart security guard as he fled the store, police said. When confronted, Acebal pulled out a knife and threatened the guard, police said. Acebal then fled into the parking lot, where he was quickly apprehended by responding State Trooper Charles Fontanelli and Investigator Sean Morgan, police said.

Acebal was taken to the Westchester County Jail without bail and is due in town court Monday. Additional charges are possible at that time, police said.
