Police Charge Yorktown Man, 19, And 16-Year-Old With Marijuana Possession

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – Bassel Bashjawish, a 19-year-old Yorktown resident, has been charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and failure to keep right, a traffic violation on Friday, Oct. 24, according to Yorktown police.

A 16-year-old male Yorktown resident, whose name is being withheld due to youthful offender status, has also been charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, according to police.

Police say an officer was working a detail in the area of Baldwin Road when he observed a tan Toyota crossing the double yellow lines. The vehicle was stopped on Baldwin Road and an investigation at the scene revealed that Bashjawish and the 16-year-old male were in possession of a quantity of marijuana, according to the police.

Both suspects were arrested and transported to police headquarters. Following processing, both men were issued appearance tickets and are due back in court on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 6 p.m. Both were released on their own recognizance.
