The Bronxville Police Department received a report of a theft in progress shortly before 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7 from a residence on Courseview Road, with the suspects fleeing in a grey Audi.

Officers were dispatched to the area, and the Audi was stopped on Pondfield Road at the corner of The ByWay. The three occupants of the vehicle - Bronx residents Timothy Key, 25, Miguel Jaquez, 22, and Edgardo Suarez, 19 - were found in possession of 35 stolen items valued at nearly $2,500, as well as a FedEx uniform. Each were arrested and charged with a felony count of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Further investigation by police determined that Key was a FedEx Ground contractor as a driver’s helper on delivery routes, which revealed that a fourth man, 21-year-old Bronx resident James Vargas, who worked as a FedEx employee, provided the location and time of delivery of the Courseview Road package to the other three men, who were following his FedEx truck in the Audi. Suarez and Jaquez had no direct affiliation to FedEx, police said.

Police said that at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, with the assist of detectives in Yonkers, Vargas was arrested at the FedEx Ground distribution center on Hermann Place in Yonkers. He was subsequently charged with petit larceny and is due in Bronxville Village Court next month to answer the charge.

Following arraignment, Key, Jaquez and Suarez were remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of bail. Each are due back in Bronxville Village Court on Jan. 3 to answer the charges.
