Police officers on patrol heard several gunshots and responded to the area at around 10:20 p.m. where they found a male victim who was unresponsive, police said.
The victim, an unnamed 22 year-old Peekskill resident, was transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Chief Eric Johansen stated that detectives were following several leads in their attempt to identify and apprehend the shooter. Peekskill Police were assisted by officers from the Westchester County Department of Public Safety K9 Division.
The victim's name is being withheld, pending notification of family members.
