At approximately 5:49 p.m., state police responded to a reported motor vehicle collision that occurred between Exit 18B and 19 in Mamaroneck.

Troopers arrived on scene and located 24-year-old Mouhamed Cisse of the Bronx, who appeared to have suffered serious injuries including gunshot wounds.

Cisse was transported to Jacobi Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a GMC U-Haul van bearing Arizona license plates and possible front end damage was noted swerving in the roadway.

The van subsequently struck a maroon Honda which was also traveling northbound on I-95. The van became temporarily disabled on the grassy shoulder of the roadway before it re-entered the roadway.

The unidentified operator of the van stopped momentarily in the roadway and an eyewitness was able to take the photograph of the offending van.

The U-Haul van has not been located and it is unknown how many occupants were in the vehicle.

The incident necessitated the closure of I-95 while the investigation was conducted by members of Troop K and Troop T.

State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have information that would be helpful to this investigation to contact (914) 769-2600.
