Mother, Child Sent To Hospital From Cortlandt Fire

Mohegan Lake firefighters put out a blaze Monday at a Cortlandt home on Greenlawn Road.

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Two victims of a house fire in Cortlandt were transported Monday evening to Westchester Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The fire, at a single-family residence at 19 Greenlawn Road, was reported Monday around 5:30 p.m.  Firefighters extinguished the blaze within 20 minutes, Mohegan Lake Fire Department First Assistant Chief Adam Cerrato said.

The victims were residents of the home, Cerrato said, adding, “One was a young child and the other was the child’s mother.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, he said.

Peekskill FAST Team and the Buchanan Fire Department assisted the Mohegan Fire Department in battling the blaze.
