Birmingham was found in a first-floor bedroom in the early morning multi-house fire 930 Diven St., said Lt. John White.

White said they are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death.

Peekskill and Croton-on-Hudson firefighters battled the blaze for more than 90 minutes before bringing it under control, White said.

The fire, which started on the first floor, spread to the second and third floors. An official cause of the fire has not been determined, but fire officials believe it was accidental.

Seven families were left homeless from the blaze, said Abagail Adams, spokeswoman for the American Red Cross.
