A 26-year-old Dutchess County man is facing multiple charges after state police checked on his welfare after he was stopped on the shoulder of the northbound Taconic State Parkway on Monday.
A police investigator requested a marked patrol car after he observed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, police said.
A subsequent investigation revealed that one of the occupants in the vehicle, Russell P. Sage of Poughkeepsie, possessed a small quantity of heroin, an estimated 47 grams of Oxycodone, and approximately one gram of marijuana.
He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree (a Class B felony), criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree (a Class A misdemeanor) and unlawful possession of marijuana (a violation).
Sage was arraigned in the Town of Kent Justice Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. He is due to reappear in the Town of Kent Court at a later date and time.
