State Police charged William Martini IV of Stanford with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a Class C felony, and two counts of forcible Touching, a Class A misdemeanor.
Troopers were dispatched by Dutchess County 911 to Bushwick Road near the intersection with Titusville Road and State Route 55 in the Town of LaGrange on Saturday at approximately 3 p.m. after a report of a woman who was grabbed by a stranger.
The 17-year-old female victim reported that she was jogging on Titusville Road when she observed a black Chevrolet pick-up truck stopped on the shoulder of the roadway, police said.
The victim reported that a male subject, in his 30s, got out of the truck and started jogging behind her, according to police.
The male then reportedly grabbed her buttocks before returning to his vehicle and leaving the area, according to police.
The victim and a witness attempted to get the suspect’s license plate number, however it was covered with duct tape.
Subsequently, on Sunday afternoon, a trooper on patrol observed a black pick-up truck stopped on Wilbur Road in the Town of Pleasant Valley.
The operator of the pick-up truck was out of his vehicle speaking with an elderly Pleasant Valley woman along the roadway, police said. Upon stopping, the trooper discovered that the driver of the pick-up truck, later identified as William Martini IV, was bothering the woman who later disclosed he had slapped her buttocks, according to police.
The suspect attempted to flee the area upon the arrival of police, but was stopped by the trooper, police said.
Martini was also found to be in unlawful possession of an loaded .357 revolver handgun.
Martini was arraigned in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
Martini is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court on Thursday.
Additionally, he is scheduled to appear before the Town of LaGrange Court on May 3.
The New York State Police were assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department both of whom are investigating similar incidents in the Dutchess County area.
