Man Charged With DWI After Auto Accident On Croton Lake Road

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police arrested a Florida man Saturday on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

John R. Fields was charged with driving while intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor, along with failure to maintain lane and unlicensed operation, Yorktown police said.

At 12:44 p.m., a passing motorist called to report a single vehicle personal injury auto accident on Croton Lake Road, according to police.

Officers investigated and found that John R. Fields, 55, of Hudson, Fla., was driving a 1997 Jeep eastbound on Croton Lake Road when it collided with a guard rail, police report.

Further investigation revealed that Fields was intoxicated and unlicensed, police said.

Fields was arrested at the scene and transported to Hudson Valley Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries, according to officials.

He was then processed at Police Headquarters, officials report.

Fields was charged with driving while intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor, along with failure to maintain lane and unlicensed operation, both traffic violations, according to police.

Fields was arraigned and held at the Westchester County Jail after being unable to post $7,000 cash bail, officials report.

He was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Court on Tuesday, police report. Results of his court appearance were not available.
