The chief explained that most of the damage was to the exterior of the building, which is at 160 South Bedford Road and is off of Route 117. However, Maitland also recalled that the fire was in between the house's interior wall and exterior wall.

As a precaution, firefighters opened up exterior walls in the home, the chief explained. It took about 30 minutes to get the fire under control, according to Maitland.

A resident from the home reported the fire in a 911 calls, according to the chief, with the Chappaqua Fire Department receiving a dispatch at 2:24 p.m.

Mutual aid, Maitland recalled, was provided by fire departments from Millwood and Mount Kisco, Westchester EMS, as well as ambulance corps from Chappaqua and Pleasantville.

Traffic flow on Route 117 was limited on Tuesday afternoon due to the response activity.

Nobody was injured, Maitland noted, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
