Fire Breaks Out At Mahopac-Carmel Chamber Of Commerce

MAHOPAC, N.Y. --  A malfunctioning oil burner at the Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday sent smoke flowing through the pipes of the heater causing employees to evacuate.

John Iorio, the treasurer of the chamber, said that luckily, firefighters from the Mahopac and Mahopac Falls Fire Department responded quickly to their 911 call, preventing any damage to the building located at 953 South Lake Blvd.

While firefighters were dousing the smoke and fire in the heater under the direction of Mahopac Assistant Chief Bill Nikisher, the Carmel and Mahopac Fire Police managed traffic in the area, fire officials said.
