Fire Breaks Out Above Carmel Pizzeria

CARMEL, N.Y. -- About 30 firefighters from several departments spent more than an hour battling a blaze in an apartment above Lorenzo's Pizzeria in Carmel early Wednesday morning, according to multiple reports.

Residents were able to get out of the two-story building at 12 Fair St., around 1:30 a.m., before firefighters arrived, said lohud.com.

Firefighters from Carmel, Lake Carmel, Mahopac and Putnam Valley responded to the fire, lohud.com added.

The Putnam County Fire Investigation Team is looking into the cause of the fire.

During the fire, Carmel police closed Fair Street between Route 52 and Vink Drive but the roadway was back open to traffic by 5 a.m., said lohud.com.
