Family Safely Escapes As Fire Breaks Out In Croton Home

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Volunteer firefighters in Croton-on-Hudson battled a South Ledge Loop Lane fire overnight that forced a family to evacuate the property temporarily.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, fire crews were dispatched to South Ledge Loop, where there was a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters reported that there was smoke coming from the roof of the residence and the fire appeared to be contained to the upper stories.

According to Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department officials, members of the department’s five companies “worked seamlessly together and made quick work of the fire, which was mostly contained in the attic crawl spaces and second floor.” All of the occupants of the home escaped before first responders arrived and no injuries were reported.

Crews from the Ossining Fire Department, firefighters and EMS from the Buchanan Engine Co., Croton-on-Hudson Emergceny Medical Services and Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps. assisted at the scene.
