ARMONK, N.Y. The truck driver struck by Kerry Kennedy pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident, according to the North Castle Justice Court.
Rocco Scuiletti, 47 of Poughkeepsie, was issued the ticket for the violation after police say he failed to notify authorities of the accident on Route 684. Police say Scuiletti knowingly was struck by Kerry Kennedys Lexus on July 13 and did not report it. Kennedy was not charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
Following the accident, Kennedy was arrested on Route 22 in Armonk and charged with driving under the influence. At a press conference following her initial court appearance July 17, Kennedy said that a seizure caused her erratic driving that morning. A toxicology report later released by the county district attorneys office showed that Kennedy had trace amounts of a generic sleep-aid medication in her system.
Scuiletti filed his plea with the court via mail and waived his original appearance that was scheduled for Aug. 7. Scuiletti is next scheduled to appear in court at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 7, but may have a lawyer represent him in his absence.
Kennedy pleaded not guilty to her DUI charge and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 11.
