CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Croton Police said a large group was found drinking in Spencer Field just before 1 a.m. on Aug 4. About 40 to 50 people scattered when police shined lights on the party, leaving behind plastic cups, and cases of bottles and cans of beer, police said. Some field equipment was damaged, and some bottles were smashed in the field, but no permanent damage was done, according to police, who said they believe at least some members of the group were underage.

Petit Larceny: Brenda J. Borzesi, 65, of Yorktown Heights, was charged with misdemeanor petit larceny, after Croton Police said a security officer at ShopRite reported that Borzesi was attempting to steal cat food and chocolates. The incident took place about 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 2.
Animal Complaint: Croton Police said a resident reported finding an injured hawk. Police informed the resident that he should call Teatown Lake Reservation. Wildlife experts at Teatown reportedly told the resident that mother hawks are pushing offspring out of nests now, in late summer, and that the hawk would probably fly away by morning. Police did not receive a follow-up phone call. The incident was reported at 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 3.
Fire Response: The Croton Fire Department responded to a call of a smoky microwave from a Lexington Drive resident. Fire department officials said smoke was coming from overcooked food in the microwave, and that the residence was subsequently ventilated. The incident was reported about 4 p.m. on Aug. 3.
Underage Drinking: Croton Police said they stopped a vehicle on Route 9 north, and a DWI test was conducted on the driver. Although police said the vehicle's operator was not found to be driving while intoxicated, police said the person was under 21 years old and had been drinking. A taxi was called for the operator and passenger; the driver was issued a summons for having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, and a traffic violation for crossing traffic markings. The incident was reported at 2 a.m. on Aug. 5.
Missing Person Found: Croton Police said a teenage girl came into police headquarters and reported she had run away from home in Mount Vernon and had taken a Metro-North train to Croton. Croton Police confirmed that the Mount Vernon Police Department had an open missing-person case regarding the girl. She was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital for an evaluation and her mother was notified. The incident was reported at 10 a.m. on Aug. 6.
