CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - A Croton man is facing two felony drug charges after Croton police said they found 69 glassine envelopes of heroin in his possession.
Michael R. Landers, 23, was charged with criminal possession of narcotics and criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, both felonies. Croton police said a tip led them to investigate a possible drug deal taking place on Lark Lane.
Police said the tip came in just before 5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17. Investigators said that when Officers Corey Velardo and David Wingfield arrived, they found that Landers matched the caller's description. Police said they found the heroin in Landers' possession, and he was arrested.
Landers was ordered held on $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond, and he was taken to the Westchester County jail.
The following items also were reported by Croton police:
DWI: Elwin O. Flores-Reyes, 19, of Peekskill was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. He was released on $100 bail to a family friend. The incident occurred on Route 9 North about 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20.
Auto Accident: Croton police received numerous calls reporting a two-car accident with injuries in Route 9 North about 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21. Police said one driver was taken to Westchester Medical Center. The other driver, a 20-year-old man, was charged with multiple violations. Police said he was unlicensed and uninsured, and his car was unregistered and had improper plates and unsafe tires.
Credit Fraud: A resident reported that he received a call regarding a computer ordered from Target. The resident told the Target representative that he had not ordered a computer. Police advised the resident to follow up with credit bureaus. The incident was reported about 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20.
Suspicious Incident: A woman reported that while she was away for several days, a X was cut in her screen door. The incident was reported about 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19.
Ordinance Violation: A Croton park ranger ejected four nonresidents from Black Rock Park, after they were found swimming there, police said. An appearance ticket was issued to one of the people for an unleashed dog. The incident was reported about 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17.
Hornets' Nest: A caller reported a "huge" hornets' nest above the Asbury Church rear parking lot. Patrols responded and destroyed the nest. The incident was reported about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16.
Sewage Problem: A resident of Young Avenue reported to the police that sewage was backing up into his home. The Croton Department of Public Works was notified. The incident was reported about 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19.
