Cortlandt Woman Charged With DWI

YORKTOWN, N.Y. – A Cortlandt woman was charged by Yorktown Police with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop last week.

Police stopped Ashley Torres, 22, at 11 p.m. July 18 after she was observed traveling eastbound on Route 202 over the speed limit, police said. Following an investigation, Torres was found to have a blood alcohol level above the .18 percent threshold at which a driver is considered to be legally intoxicated.

Torres was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated, both misdemeanors, and speeding. She is due in Yorktown Town Court Aug. 21.

In other police activity,

Unlawful Peddling: On July 23 at 7:30 p.m., Yorktown Police charged two men with peddling without a license, a town code violation, after a resident of Wharton Drive reported two men soliciting home improvement repairs door-to-door. They are due in Yorktown Town Court Aug. 23.

Shoplifting: On July 21, Yorktown Police charged two unidentified 16-year-old Mahopac residents with petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor. According to the police report, the two were aiding and abetting each other in concealing merchandise totaling $400 from Sears at the Jefferson Valley Mall. The suspects are due in Yorktown Town Court Aug. 14.
