Police said troopers were dispatched to interview a subject who reported that his cellphone had been stolen. The victim reported that he received a phone call from an unidentified male who stated that he had the victim’s missing cellphone, police said.
The male subject, later identified as Friend, indicated that he would return the cellphone to the victim for $100, according to police.
Friend was charged by the state police with possessing the stolen property following a meeting arranged by the victim and suspect, police said.
Friend was issued an appearance ticket directing him to appear before the Cortlandt Town Court on Friday, April 24, at 9 a.m.
