It might have taken place 47 years ago, but Troop K of the New York State Police, have not forgotten the murder of a 15-year-old girl whose body was found in Northern Westchester and still remains unsolved.

The case goes back to Nov. 15, 1970, when the body of Alice Lezan of Franklin Township, N.J., was found bound with a rope inside a red sleeping bag at the bottom of a 60-foot drop near Camp Smith, off Bear Mountain Road in Cortlandt, said state police.

Her body was first discovered in March of that year by a boy walking in the woods, but his parents did not believe his story. The boy returned with friends on Nov.15, and that's when his parents contacted the state police.

Lezan who was last seen on Sept. 26, 1969, near a hotel on West 48th St., in New York City, was identified using dental records. Police ruled her death as a homicide.

She was last seen wearing gray and white pants with a purple shirt and was with a man believed to have tried to lure her into prostitution, state police said.

Early in the investigation, other prostitutes told Investigators the man stated Alice went home.

It is not believed Lezan was ever a prostitute, state police said.

But police were not able to solve the case and are continuing to ask for the public's assistance to help solve her murder and bring peace to her family, state police said.
