A multi-vehicle crash in which one of the cars involved went down an embankment caused gridlock on a stretch of the northbound Taconic State Parkway late Wednesday afternoon into the early evening.

The crash, reported just after 4 p.m.,  occurred between Route 134 and the Croton Reservoir Bridge near the Ossining/Yorktown border.

The crash initially resulted in the closure of two of three lanes. One of the lanes reopened around 5 p.m., leaving the left lane blocked. The left lane reopened after the evening commute concluded.

There was stopped traffic at the scene of the crash and stop-and-go delays stretching back several miles to Briarcliff Manor.
