Brewster Man, 19, Is Charged With Rape

BREWSTER, N.Y. -- A Brewster was charged with felony rape on July 1 stemming from an incident involving a minor in Southeast, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

Hugo De Jesus Cardona Velasquez, 19, allegedly had sexual conduct with a minor in the town of Southeast. He was arraigned and remanded to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond pending a future court appearance, officials said.

Cardona Velasquez faces a maximum of 25 years in prison if convicted, police said.
