Dear editor, I work for a local business in town and think it is important that our next state senator be an advocate for improving the business climate of our state.

Currently, we are ranked dead last in the nation when it comes to our state’s climate for businesses. We all know small businesses are the engine that runs our economy and there is only one candidate in this race who has the first hand experience as a small business owner and only one with a record we can trust: Terrence Murphy.

Here in Yorktown, Terrence owns and operates the Yorktown Health and Wellness Center. His family also opened Murphy’s Restaurant in memory of his dad, Jack.

Terrence has experienced the hardships associated with owning a business and knows firsthand how Albany continues to pick our pockets. In addition to his personal experiences Terrence Murphy has successfully built up our local economy by ushering in more than $250 million in economic development.

Many residents will remember when we could not pay a new business to come to Yorktown. Since Murphy took office we have attracted projects like Costco, the redevelopment of the Jefferson Valley Mall and Navajo Fields. Not to mention, under his watch we finally finished the widening of Route 202.

It’s clear Terrence Murphy is the only candidate ready to represent New York’s small businesses in Albany. Serafina Mastro
