Letter: Kevin Davis Endorsed For Croton Trustee

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. ‒ The Daily Voice accepts signed, original letters to the editor. Letters may be emailed to jglenza@dailyvoice.com.

To the Editor:

In my time representing Northern Westchester in the County Legislature, I have earned a reputation as an independent-minded Democrat willing to stand with party leaders when they are right and stand up to them when they are wrong. I am also known for being as careful with taxpayer dollars as I am with my own and protecting our natural environment like my own backyard.

I see these same values in Kevin Davis, who is running for Village Trustee here in Croton-on-Hudson. I had the privilege of having Kevin lead my campaign for New York State Senate in this area in 2010. Kevin is one of the most serious and passionate people I have ever met in my years in public life.

Kevin has been a regular participant at village board meeting since he was in High School. Kevin, without any help from either party, organized a successful referendum campaign to move Croton’s village elections from March to November to save taxpayer dollars and boost voter turnout.

Kevin is a third-generation Crotonite and is running because he truly cares for his community and wants to protect Croton’s outstanding quality of life and keep it affordable for middle class families.

I encourage registered Democrats in the Village of Croton to support Kevin Davis in the Democratic Party Primary on Thursday, September 13th.

Sincerely,

Michael Kaplowitz,

Westchester County Legislator District 4 and Chair of the Committee on Environment and Energy.

Hey Kap, thanks for the robocall last night at 9pm. You woke up my kids.

Harris Rubinroit is very outspoken but not too creative. I've seen this same post at least 6 times--even attached to an article about a school board race outside of Croton!
If Mr. Davis actually knew what the budget process entails (which he should if he has attended so many board meetings) he would be aware that the proposed budget is submitted by the Village Manager to the Village Board. The trustees must then pare it down to an acceptable size for to retain services and keep taxpayers from over paying. Ann Gallelli and the current VB got the proposed budget down over 5% last year.

In the Sept. 13 race for the Croton Board of Trustees, it's exciting to see support growing for Kevin Davis' Campaign for the Croton Board. After 6 years of attending Board Meetings, Kevin, a 3rd-Generation Crotonite, is very knowledgeable on the issues and is determined to make a positive contribution in Croton.

During this hot and humid summer, Kevin has been going door-to-door meeting Croton residents and listening to what's on our minds. Kevin understands that rapidly growing taxes must be prevented.

Kevin offers New Ideas and Energy, and an Independent Voice to the Board.

Go Kevin Davis Go!
