Virginia Augusta Costigan Reid, 100, Of Cortlandt Manor

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. — Virginia Costigan Reid, of Cortlandt Manor, died on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at home surrounded by her family. She was 100.

Virginia was born on June 5, 1914 in New York City to Robert Hampton Costigan and Augusta Henrietta Briggs. She lived in Minnesota and White Plains, N.Y. before moving to Cortlandt Manor in 1956.

She married Samuel Malcolm Reid in White Plains on Aug. 30, 1940 and worked for Caldor department stores for 35 years.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel; sons-in-law Dominic Perruccio and Reinvald (Eddie) Kirinus; daughter-in-law Maureen Reid; and step-granddaughter Lisa Costa.

She is survived by four children, Patricia Perruccio of Peekskill, Richard Reid of Cortlandt Manor, Virginia Costa and husband Michael of Cortlandt Manor and Linda Kirinus of Aurora, Colo.; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and her cousins, David and Peggy Briggs of Troy and Mary Briggs Leff of Madison, Wis.

Visiting hours are from noon to 4 p.m, on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, located at 414 Washington St. in Peekskill. A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m.
