BUCHANAN, N.Y. Raymond P. Massagli Sr. of Buchanan died on Aug. 22. He was 90.
Born Jan. 8, 1922, in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of Natale and Luisa Massagli. He enlisted in the Army Air Forces in January 1942 and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Massagli received the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in November 1945.
He met Alba D'Amato in the Bronx in 1946 and they were married in October 1947. Massagli retired as a fleet manager for Continental Baking in the Bronx. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 271 and a former manager and president of the Tre-Ford Little League.
He is survived by his wife, Alba; a daughter, Laura (Jim) Petrillo, of Buchanan; a daughter-in-law, Judy Massagli, of New Fairfield, Conn.; a brother, Peter (Irene), of Ridgefield, Conn.; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Raymond Massagli Jr.; and three sisters, Peggy, Ida and Olga.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home in Montrose. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint Christopher's Church in Buchanan. Burial will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
