Mary Fennelly Michaelsen, 97, Croton-on-Hudson

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.-- Mary Fennelly Michaelsen passed away January 6, 2017 at Beechwood Manor in New London, Connecticut. Mary was born in Chicago on January 4, 1920 to Parker and Catherine Reynolds Fennelly, both professional actors. The family relocated to New York and settled in Peekskill, where Mary attended local schools.

After attending Albertus Magnus College and Cornell University, Mary moved to New York City where she worked in the travel industry for many years.

In 1972 Mary married William Michaelsen and the two spent many happy years together between Croton-on-Hudson, New York and Spring Hill, Florida.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill and also by her twin sister, Jane, her closest friend for over 95 years. She is survived by Bill’s son Kent and his wife Mary Ann of Atkinson, New Hampshire, by his daughter Chris and her husband Carlos Coloma of Madrid, Spain, as well as four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her nephews Michael and Peter Detmold of New London and David Detmold of Turners Falls, Massachusetts.

A funeral will be held on Friday, April 28, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd in Croton-on-Hudson.
