Louise M. Montagano, 93, Of Montrose

MONTROSE, N.Y. -- Louise M. Montagano, passed away May 27 at the New York State Veterans Home at Montrose. She was 93.

She Louise was born April 22, 1923, in New York City, to the late Joseph and Betty Selvagi Petrucelli. She was widely considered to be the best wife/mother/grandmother/sister/aunt/friend, and her loss is profoundly felt by those lucky enough to have known her.

She was everyone's favorite lunch lady for more than 20 years at Eastchester High School.

She was an avid reader of generally suspect dime-store novels, and watched more episodes of General Hospital than she would've liked to admit. She loved being surrounded by her family, was a wonderful listener, and offered a safe space to anyone who needed her sweetness and compassion.

She is survived by her brother, Joseph Petrucelli and his wife Joan; two grandchildren, Beth and Kenneth; son-in-law, Christopher; sisters-in-law Mary and Dorothy; and her many adoring nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Daniel; siblings Rose, Beatrice, Michael and Richard; and daughter, Brenda.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Scarsdale. Entombment will be in Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale.

Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
