MONTROSE, N.Y. - Louis Morris of Montrose died Tuesday, Sept. 16. He was 88.
Morris was born June 17, 1926, in Peekskill, to Louis and Dora (Chaplin) Morris. He was a United States Navy Veteran who served during World War II. He worked for many years and retired from New York Central Railroad in 1962 then worked his second career as an account manager for Metropolitan Life in Yorktown Heights. After his retirement from MetLife, he worked as a school bus driver for the Lakeland School District retiring at the age of 84.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Peekskill, member of the Cortlandt Centennial Hose Co., and parishioner of St. Christopher's Church in Buchanan.
Morris is survived by his wife, Beatrice; many nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents.
Calling hours are Thursday, Sept. 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19 at St. Christopher's Church in Buchanan. Cremation services will be private.
